E.T.H.E.R. is a dual-node, air-gapped IoT system designed for real-time power safety and emotive AI energy analysis. It bridges the gap between industrial safety hardware and consumer-friendly, gamified interfaces.
The Core Philosophy
Traditional smart home energy monitors connect high-voltage switching hardware directly to internet-facing routers, creating security vulnerabilities and latency in emergency cutoffs. E.T.H.E.R. solves this by physically separating the high-voltage reading environment from the internet-connected environment.

- Air-Gapped Security: High-voltage telemetry is sent via 2.4GHz ESP-NOW to an isolated desk node.
- Zero-Latency Cutoff: Hardware-level power shutoff for loads exceeding 2500W.
- Emotive UI: Raw power data is translated into physical hardware expressions and Google Gemini AI insights.
- Serverless Edge Data: Lightning-fast data polling using Astro, Netlify Edge Functions, and TursoDB.
High-Level Architecture
The system consists of three main layers:
